RustyBoomer server rules

1) General Rules
- Racism, sexism, extreme harassment, and targeted abuse are permanent ban offenses.
- Cheating software and exploits — including knowingly abusing any bug or glitch for personal benefit — are permanent ban offenses, no appeal. Found a bug? Report it to staff via a support ticket as soon as possible instead of using it, and don't post exploit details in public chat where others can copy it.
- Be respectful. Do not be toxic toward players or staff. Staff may also act on a pattern of repeatedly provoking, disrupting, or making the same player(s) uncomfortable, even if no single instance breaks another rule on its own.
- Griefing is absolutely not allowed in any form, including deliberately flooding the server with free top-tier loot/resources to sabotage the wipe's economy for everyone. Normal generosity — sharing loot, helping new players, giving away leftover gear before wipe — is fine; this is about deliberate, large-scale attempts to ruin the server for everyone, not kindness.
- No advertising of any kind — gambling/betting sites, other servers, Discord communities, referral or affiliate links, promotional clan tags or nicknames, and so on — anywhere on RustyBoomer (in-game chat, nickname/clan tag, signs, forum, Discord) unless agreed with staff in advance.
- Trading, buying, or selling accounts, in-game items, or Boom for real money outside our official store is not allowed, and sharing or transferring your account to another person is not allowed — you're responsible for everything that happens on it.
- Evading a ban using an alt account gets that account banned too and does not clear the original ban.
- Sharing player positions, loot, or other info with people outside your own team ("team hacking"), and using someone's live stream to find or target them in-game ("stream sniping"), are both bannable.
- Scamming other players — fake trades, promising items and not delivering, and similar deception — is not allowed.
- Do not share another player's real-world personal information (real name, address, workplace, social media, etc.) without their consent.
- The same conduct rules apply to voice chat as to text chat — no harassment, hate speech, or targeted abuse over mic.
- These rules apply everywhere on RustyBoomer — in-game, on the website, and in Discord.
2) Facepunch Compliance
- Cheating and hacking are also prohibited under Facepunch's Terms of Service.
3) Signs
- No NSFW, pornographic, gore, or extreme shock imagery on signs, paintings, or banners.
- No hate speech, racism, sexism, or targeted harassment on signs.
- No advertising on signs, paintings, or banners — see the General Rules advertising policy above.
- Do not spam signs around monuments, roads, or other players' bases.
- Staff may remove or demolish offending signs without warning. Repeat abuse can lead to bans.
4) Forum & Direct Messages
- The same conduct rules that apply in-game apply on the website forum and in the direct-message widget — no harassment, hate speech, NSFW content, or targeted abuse.
- No advertising via the forum or DMs — see the General Rules advertising policy above.
- Staff can view, moderate, and remove forum posts or threads that break these rules. Direct messages are private between participants; staff only review a message's surrounding context when it has been reported.
- Report a harassing or abusive message or post using its flag/report button. This sends the reason (and, for messages, the surrounding conversation) to a staff review queue.
- False or bad-faith reports may themselves result in action against the reporter.
5) PvE Protection System
- PvE protection is enabled by default every time you join or rejoin.
- With
/pve on, you and your base are protected from strangers. - Protection does not apply between teammates.
- Using
/pve offis at your own risk. No loss refunds while it is off. - Enable protection before logging off. Avoid logging out in safe zones.
- Server-wide purge starts 23 hours before wipe, and PvE protection is disabled.
6) Duel & War Group System
- Use
/duel <name>to invite another player. - When accepted, both players can damage and loot each other.
- No third party may interfere during an active duel.
- To end a duel, either player uses
/pve on. -
War groups are a bigger version of the same idea:
/war createstarts a war group, and anyone can/war join <name>it. Everyone inside the same war group can freely fight, loot, and raid each other — outsiders stay fully protected either way, in both directions. - Use
/war leaveto exit a war group, and/warto list its current members. - You cannot use
/pve onwhile in a war group — leave it first with/war leave.
7) Giant Excavator — Permanent PvP Zone
- The Giant Excavator area is permanent, high-risk/high-reward PvP — no PvE protection, no run limit, no other special rules. Enter at your own risk and come prepared to fight.
- It is never called or announced by autocall or
/call— entering it does not broadcast your position. - Normal monument priority/turn-taking rules (see §10) do not apply here — it is settled by combat, not queueing.
- Building a base or tower in the surrounding no-PvP area specifically to snipe into the excavator zone (or to camp its exits from outside it) is not allowed. Fight inside the zone, not from safety around it.
- This is still a PvE server — the Giant Excavator is an optional high-risk zone, not a 24/7 stronghold for one group. Permanently camping or blockading it to lock everyone else out is not allowed and may be treated as griefing.
8) Deep Sea PvP (Full Vanilla)
- Deep sea is full vanilla PvP and raiding area.
- This is an admin zero-interference zone. No recovery support is provided.
- Admins in deep sea are regular players and valid PvP targets.
- PvE protection is disabled automatically in this zone.
9) Staff, Admin and Entity Removal
- Entity demolition requests must use a website support ticket (or Discord ticket if you prefer).
- Only tag admins for urgent issues: bugs, server issues, cheaters, griefing, toxicity.
- Do not ask admins for items or loot in chat.
- Do not DM staff for support. Use support tickets.
- Staff/admin/VIP impersonation is permanent ban without appeal.
- Ban appeals and VPN whitelist requests must be made via support tickets.
- Admins have final say on all rule interpretations and enforcement decisions.
10) Mandatory Calls and Priority
- Call major monuments and public/personal airdrops.
- No pre-calling. You can only call a monument or event once you are on site at it — calling one in advance to reserve it is not allowed.
- First player on-site has priority for puzzles and hacking crates.
- For Bradley/Heli, first tag owns the fight and must call it in chat.
- No instant boss respawn spam. Respect turn-taking if others are waiting.
- If owner dies, ownership remains while they respawn unless they ask for help.
- Airdrops in non-TC authorized zones may become unlootable.
11) Waterways — Rivers & Bays
- Building along rivers and bays is welcome, but waterway access must stay open for everyone.
- Do not build impassable structures, bridges, or walls that block boat travel through rivers or bays. Keep a 2-foundation-wide and 1-wall-high passage above water.
- Avoid turning scenic waterways into eyesores. If a build blocks water traffic or wrecks the area, admins will ask you to adjust it.
12) Builds Near Monuments & POIs
- Large structures right next to monuments or major points of interest drop client performance for everyone visiting them.
- Do not build massive bases directly against monuments or main points of interest.
- High-impact builds near monuments may be edited or removed by admins. Planning a mega-base? Pick a quiet, low-traffic spot instead.
13) Server Performance & Automation
- If a base is causing noticeable lag for the server or other players — including from heavy electrical or automation setups — admins may review it and require you to reduce or adjust it until the lag is resolved.
14) TC Spam & Land Claiming
- Spamming Tool Cupboards to reserve large areas of land at wipe start, without actually building on them, is not allowed.
- If you drop a TC to claim land, you need to build there. Unused TCs blocking nearby players from setting up will be cleared by admins on report.
15) Base Defenses, Traps & Turrets
- Shotgun traps and flame turrets must be inside your base footprint.
- External auto turrets must be on peacekeeper mode. SAM sites and turrets must not target players or minicopters outside your walls or property.
- If a player enters your compound, lands on your roof, or steps inside your base, your defenses are free to kill them.
16) Entity & Deployable Limits
- Per base limit: 4 windmills and 2 searchlights per person or team.
- Space out SAM sites and auto turrets rather than stacking them in one spot.
- Placing multiple connected or adjacent bases to get around these limits is not allowed.
- Not everyone plays on a high-end PC — keep your electrical and deployable setups reasonable so the area stays playable for everyone.
17) Raiding, Looting & Vehicles
- No raiding/stealing from other players, sleepers, or active bases.
- Looting is allowed only from broken boxes (gray bags) in decayed bases.
- Do not grief other players using vehicles — intentionally trapping, blocking, or using them to harass or inconvenience others is treated as griefing.
- Do not take more free road-spawn vehicles than you actually need — leave some for other players.
- Staff may despawn hoarded vehicles without prior warning. Loot left inside them is not saved or refunded.
18) Admin Raid Bases
- No reservations for tomorrow. If not active now, it is open to others.
- After tagging a raid base, you must commit and break at least one wall/door.
- Use
/raidclaimto confirm raid claim (first hit deals zero damage). - Claim duration is 24 hours maximum.
- Do not start raids you are not prepared to finish.
19) Referral Program (website promotions)
- Invite links are personal. Your friend must open your link and sign in with Steam on the website to be linked to you.
- Milestone rewards use server playtime tracked after a valid link.
- Only playtime after your friend signs in through your invite link counts toward milestones. Friends who already had substantial server playtime before linking (beyond a short grace window) cannot earn referral rewards.
- Full promotion tiers and progress: Promotions page.
